Routes poussiéreuses de l`Est Chhattisgarh // Dusty roads of far-east Chhattisgarh

Raipur to Sarangarh : 7 hours of shaking but not the one I prefer. Here is not the deep India but the abyssal India !

While the road was forwarding, I was loosing 5 centimeters of height and eating my bag of dust, I was imaginating my next hotel : an hut with toilettes in your dreams, or a charpoi along the dusty road or, ultimate fantaisy, a 5 stars hotel with jacuzzi in the bathroom and someone to massage me with strong fingers to put me back in a proper shape after this tough trip on the apocalyptic roads of the region. Dream is still an option !
Landed in the countryside night of Sarangarh, I found an hotel at night, at a time when the lights let you a field of endless imagination, the stains are the artist personnal final touch, smells are a masala of wonderful scents, the gnome at the hotel reception is a divine hostess. Of course it was no jacuzzi, neither wonderful scents nor anyone to massage me, I surely messed up with my note card, sang the wrong mantra and tell the one that avoid the bus from losing screws and bolts in the chaos of the road and arrive at destination in one piece.
This social group born 120 years ago in Chhattisgarh, mainly constituated of untouchables who, for a few reasons among which the one to sacralise their body in order to escape from a certain persecution from the upper casts, as well as to prove their devotion to God (bhakti) started to tattoo the name of Ram (one of the major hindu god) all over their body. Their clothes too are showing the name of Ram. Following my investigation, only 6 fully tattooed Ramnamis remain, 5 men and 1 woman. Here is one of the men with his wife lightly tattooed.

Panchayat elections these days in all Chhattisgarh. Naif symbols of the local parties are blooming on every walls of villages.
