ET TOI, TU L'AS TA MOUSTACHE ? /// AND YOU, DO YOU WEAR YOUR MOUSTACHE ?

ET TOI, TU L'AS TA MOUSTACHE ?

ou la disparition d'un emblème national.

AND YOU, DO YOU WEAR YOUR MOUSTACHE ?

Or the disappearance of a national emblem.

AND YOU, DO YOU WEAR YOUR MOUSTACHE ?

Or the disappearance of a national emblem.

Ah ah ah, oh oh oh, me I laugh when I hear people in France being surprised by my sur-labial capillarity. They don’t realize how important is such a door opener down there, in the indian sub-continent. "Oh, what a nice moustache you wear, can I touch it ?" tell me many people in Gandhi’s country. Which attribute more manly God created on earth ? maybe tractor or pouch-front brief ? If you combine the three of these, then you are the king of Mambo at maharajas’ land. I am laughing, oh yes I am laughing, but I know that in India a few guys could cut off one of their two to get a thicker moustache.

Well, at the same time what I am telling is only partly true, concerns less and less the urban man, the modern man. What a sadness !!!! Now, at the time of satellites on every roofs and at the time of the propagation of a moulded western aesthetic, the logged man give up more and more this national symbol, a whole section of the indian history and culture is erased under the action of a razor blade. Tagore, Aurobindo, Shiva, Shivaji, mughols princes....., all these great men and thinkers of India, for some of them even great freedom and independance fighters who wore with majestic this facial capillarity on old pictures and paintings, they all must be turning over in their nirvana !!!!

What the point of being independant if that’s the point they shall reach ?

Nehru must be the only one to be pleased with that fact, he never wore that manly symbol, and I would not be surprised to discover one day that he elaborated an anti-moustache strategy written with an invisible ink in his national five-year plan. Renegade !! By the way I never saw any of his descendants wearing it too : neither Rahul Gandhi nor Rajiv, not even Indira, daddy’s girl.

And this deceitful idea endlessly destroys this wonderful national emblem. C’est la vie, so be it !!

But good news, my sharp-eye discovered a new trick that predicts a new era, a product that will restore the great values of indian aesthetic : some beautiful velvet false – moustache (made in China though) that will rekindle, at least punctually (at first), the love for this manly symbol, some beautiful velvet moustache that will be worn occasionally : during party with friends, during romantic rendez-vous, at the ambassador’s cocktail, during nationalistic meetings.

Ah, my pen is flying on the paper, excited by this new perspective of a new golden era of the moustache.
Get ready, the moustache is baaaaaaack !!!!!!
